Hashers, Neighbors, Friends,

This Saturday (the first Saturday of the month) is the Volunteer Workday for September in McLaren Park.  We will meet at the main parking lot of the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater (21 John F Shelley Dr.) at 9:30 AM.  The work is until noon and will involve eradicating Armenian Blackberry from the Grey Fox Creek area.  Two important notes: first, as always with Blackberry bring your favorite heavy gloves if you have them.  Second, there has been some contract work including tree removal in the area. The ground has been disrupted, so wear shoes/boots with good support and grip.  Dress in layers, the area is no longer as shaded as in the past.  Long sleeves and long pants are recommended because Blackberry fight back.  SF Rec and Park will provide tools and gloves, water and after-work snacks.  SFH3 will provide BEER and more snacks.

Rides are available from the Glen Park BART Station to the meeting spot.  Contact me.  The worksite is a fairly short distance from the parking lot and we will mark a hash trail (flour and chalk to it.

Come out and give some blood and sweat back to the parks.  The weather looks ideal for a workday, partly cloudy in the morning with a high of 69 degrees at BEER o’clock.
